Meet the Veterinarians of Fairbanks Animal Clinic in Houston. We’re pleased to provide exceptional vet care for your pets!

Dr. Glen Rieger

Veterinarian

Dr. Glen Rieger was born in Tulsa Oklahoma in 1953 but moved to Houston early in life. After graduating from Sharpstown High School he attended the Maritime Academy in Galveston then went to Texas A&M to graduate from Veterinary School in 1977. Initially, he was a small animal emergency veterinarian in Arlington TX, then worked on horses in the Dallas area for 2 years before moving back to Houston. After 3 years at the Heights Veterinary Clinic, he opened Fairbanks Animal Clinic in 1982. The business has grown fast over the last 20 years and Dr. Glen now spends half of his time practicing veterinary medicine and the other half on managing the five doctor practice with 30 plus employees. His business goal is to help provide happy healthy lives for pets and people.

Dr. Glen now lives in Montgomery, TX with his wife Angie who helps with the clinic bookkeeping. They have three grown sons and a daughter who have all worked at the clinic at one time or another. For recreation, they enjoy boating on Lake Conroe and walking their dogs in the country.

Dr. Mark Rieger

Veterinarian

Dr. Mark Rieger, (Dr. Mark), was born in Tulsa Oklahoma in 1955 but moved to Texas as quickly as he could in 1962. He grew up in Houston, (Sharpstown area) and graduated from Sharpstown High School in 1974. He attended Texas A&M and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1980. He worked for the Bellaire Richmond Pet Hospital from 1980 to 1997 primarily doing surgery. During the same time, he was a full-time staff doctor for an emergency clinic in Bellaire (Houston Veterinary Services) with a special interest in emergency surgery and critical care. He was also working part-time for Fairbanks Animal Clinic in order to give his brother Dr. Glen a day off. In 1998 he began working full time for Fairbanks. He is now a general practitioner with a special interest in surgery and often sees referrals from other clinics.

Dr. Mark is married with three kids, one of each (Blonde, Brunette and Redhead) all boys.

He has a golden retriever, (Libby), one cat (Frosty), and two outdoor fishponds with koi,goldfish and turtles.

Dr. Karol Sabo

Veterinarian

Dr. Karol Sabo graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Kosice, Slovakia in 1989. He also trained at Purdue University and Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

He has been practicing General Veterinary Medicine at Fairbanks Animal Clinic since 1996.

Dr. Sabo and his wife are proud parents of two intelligent and caring young men.

Dr. Amanda Hamelers

Veterinarian

Dr. Amanda Hamelers grew up in Houston, near the Spring Branch area. She attended Texas A&M University for her undergraduate, receiving a BS in genetics and also for veterinary school, graduating in 2004. Dr. Hamelers is a strong believer in preventative medicine and also a big proponent for spaying and neutering your pets.

Dr. Hamelers lives in Houston with her husband Matt, also a veterinarian, her three children Anna, William and James, their Lab Mix Lucy, and 2 cats, Miranda and Pinkie.

Dr. Alla Kiienko

Veterinarian

Dr. Alla Kiienko graduated from the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine in 2010. She came to the United States in 2011 when she started working at Fairbanks Animal Clinic as a technician while she simultaneously worked towards getting her license to practice Veterinary Medicine in Texas. After years of hard work and dedication, she acquired her ECFVG certification and received her Texas Veterinary License in 2023. Dr. Alla enjoys raising orchids and showing her Yorkshire Terriers, Cupid and Kukla in her free time. She also lives with her two cats, Phoenix and Chirick, who much prefer staying out of the limelight unlike their canine housemates!
